I like to use hardcover books to make my tool kits. That leave me with the guts of books. Most of which have a great aged patina. I just didn’t have the heart to toss them in the recycling bin. The book guts stacked up but even so I hung on to those suckers through 2 moves and one flood.I just knew there was a project crying out for 30 year old typography and illustration. That new life could be had for those reader’s digests. And I was right… I have laser cut the individual pages and sewn them together with organza ribbon to create these delicate 3D christmas ornaments.

The Oakland theme celebrates the last half year I have spent as an official Oakland resident as well as my new Oakland based studio at American Steel Studios.
